Adoption procedures
Please note: All steps of our Adoption Process MUST be completed before any rescues can be adopted.
Step 1: Your Application - Please complete and submit the on-line 'ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM'.
Step 2: Reference Checks - We do call references, including your current veterinarian.
Step 3: Phone Interview - RSME Representative will call you to discuss your application, answer any questions you might have about the overall adoption process and Saluki's in general. During the initial interview we try to find out as much as possible about you and other family members living in your home (including your fur kids) so we can get a better idea which Saluki's / dogs might be the best match for you.
Step 4: Home Visit - We will schedule a home visit at a time that is convenient for both the RSME Representative and the applicant. We will be inspecting the fencing as well as seeing the overall environment in which the dog would be living.
Step 5: Talking to the Fosters - Once approved, we will put you directly in contact with the foster for the rescue(s) that seems potentially like a great match for you. They will be able to tell your more details about the particular Saluki / dog they are fostering as well as share their individual likes and dislikes. You will be able to ask them questions about their foster.
Step 6: When you are approved for adoption - If one of the Saluki's / dogs we currently have available is a match and you would like to adopt them, we will arrange this for you. However, if we do not have a match, we will let you know when we think we have the right match available.
We retain the right in certain cases to alter the order in which the adoption process in followed.
Important note: Please try not to get too attached to a specific Saluki / Dog you see on the website since that doesn't always mean that it is the right dog for you and your family. A RSME Representative will assist you with this process to share more information about the breed in general, as well as each individual Saluki / dog that might be a match for you.
The RSME Team understands that the process can be lengthy, however it is effective! Many of our adoptions are arranged long distance so you do not always have the opportunity to meet the rescue before they are adopted. Our goal is to make you feel like you know the Saluki / dog you hope to adopt as much as possible even if you have not meet them by sharing everything we know about them with you during the adoption process.
